celebrated another great year of service with a Year End Banquet at Ippolito’s Restaurant in Suwanee on June 9. The banquet marks the changing of the guard for the club, as President Steve Cannon steps down and new President Valerie Dirkson takes over leadership of the club. Incoming District Governor Gary Moore and his wife Irene were special guests and the Governor addressed the membership with comments on his goals and enthusiasm for the new Rotary year.
The banquet also allowed the club to recognize outstanding service to the club, the district, and the community. Rotarians Nina E. Freeman and Mark Gibbs were named Rotarians of the Year for their outstanding service throughout the year. Rotarians Keith Law, Nina E. Freeman, and Mark Gibbs were recognized for becoming Rotary International Benefactors, and Rotarians Brent Cochran, Keith Pugh, Phillip Perkins, and Nina E. Freeman were recognized as multiple Paul Harris Fellows.
The beginning of the 2008-2009 Rotary year brings new opportunities to serve the North Gwinnett community. All local businessmen and women are invited to attend club meetings and functions. Regular meetings are held each Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. For more information, please call 404-583-1595.
