Three Students from Grayson and Dacula High Schools Receive Young Women Award for Excellence
Nearly 100 Hours of Personal Time Dedicated to Setting Goals and Providing Service

Grayson, GA - Senior Anna Christensen and graduate Cassandra Green of Grayson High School and Dacula High School junior Emily MacLeod received the Young Womanhood Recognition Award at a special August 3rd program at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The young women have been working since age 12, the age they enter the Young Women’s program in the LDS Church, to receive the Recognition by setting and completing goals in seven value areas including faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, and integrity. With efforts requiring sometimes more than 100 hours of personal time over the course of several years, the Recognition also required the girls to complete a 10-hour project in each of the seven areas of focus.
Christensen, Green, and MacLeod said that this program helps girls grow in ways previously unimaginable. All three young women expressed gratitude for the support they received from their church leaders and their parents as the completed these meaningful projects.
Christensen is the daughter of Dirk and Laura Christensen of Grayson. Christensen stated, 'One of my projects was to sew a pair of modest shorts, which was very challenging. I had to learn humility and a lot of patience. I feel that the skills I have learned have prepared me so much for the future. I would not trade this experience for anything.'
Green is the daughter of Kirk and Kim Green of Loganville and will be attending Brigham Young University – Idaho in the fall. Discussing one of her projects, Green stated, 'I have wonderful memories of my mother instructing me as I painted an oil painting for my future home.'
MacLeod is the daughter of Mitzi and the late Fergus MacLeod of Dacula. MacLeod declared, 'For one of my projects, I choreographed a dance performance with six dancers and one singer for a church talent show. The choreography took more time that I had planned for. I learned not to procrastinate!'
