NEW YORK (March 20, 2014) – Virgil Films announces that it has acquired North American distribution rights to the passionate and eye-opening documentary American Made Movie. The film, which examines the towns and people hit hardest in the harsh new economy, will be available across all Cable VOD and Digital platforms beginning April 1, 2014.
American Made Movie, from Life Is My Movie Entertainment, looks at the communities and families paying the harsh cost for the decades-long decline of manufacturing jobs in America. As employers struggle to compete in the global economy, moving operations overseas and slashing work forces at home, it feels like no one is fighting for American jobs, especially in manufacturing. Nathaniel Thomas McGill and Vincent Vittorio’s film argues persuasively against this trend, focusing on the positive impact of domestic manufacturing jobs on national and local economies in the face of great challenges.
The documentary reached a stunning 22 million people through the press while promoting last year’s theatrical release and 32 city-32 day bus tour. The tour focused on the impact that consumers have on the health of their local communities as well as the nation at large. Preceding the national theatrical release of the film, the tour promoted the value of American manufacturing and highlighted organizations and employers within communities that uphold those values. The tour informed communities of the issues at hand as well as illustrated the opportunity for every citizen, whether an entrepreneur, student, or stay at home mom, to be a part of creating a better America. The Los Angeles Times said, “Patriotic but not overly rah-rah, inspiring without an excess of feel-good calculation.”
The Hollywood Reporter, “This film about the decline of American manufacturing provides some reasons for hope.”
The Daily News New York, “You’ll never buy an inexpensive t-shirt without feeling guilty again.”
Virgil Films President Joseph Amodei negotiated the distribution deal for the film with Life Is My Movie Entertainment. Amodei said, “While the headlines in recent years have painted a grim picture of manufacturing in the U.S., American Made Movie reveals the nation’s core trait remains optimism and a can-do attitude. We are proud to bring this important film to the public.”
