On December 8, 2022 the Button Gwinnett Chapter SAR awarded this medal to Laura Drake, Executive Director of the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry in Grayson, GA.

Laura has served as Executive Director of the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry since 2008. Prior to this position, Laura volunteered at the Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry for 7 years. This award serves to recognize her over 20 years of outstanding service to needy families in Gwinnett County.

The goal of the ministry is to walk alongside local households that are struggling financially, by offering assistance aimed at supporting their efforts to afford the basics of life. The primary function of the coop is to provide food and/or non-food pantry support. Households that utilize the co-op as a food resource can free up money that then can be applied to other household needs.

The members of the Button Gwinnett Chapter SAR held a food drive for the co-op ministry prior to their December meeting, and encourage readers to visit the Co-op’s website to make donations. https://segwinnettcoop.org/
