The sun knows no season

Sun damage is an infamous factor in the development of skin cancer and aging.  With the summer heat blazing, it is inevitable to completely shield your skin from harmful, potentially cancer-causing ultraviolet (UV) rays.  Luckily there are numerous cosmetic treatments we offer that can help you prevent skin cancer and treat sun damage for those long-term sun worshippers. When combined, these treatments can revive the skin by restoring it to the healthy glow of our youth:

Sunscreen: Undoubtedly the most effective way to help shield your skin from those damaging UV rays.  All skin types/tones are susceptible to sunburn 365 days a year, whether cold, rainy or cloudy.  We recommend everyone regularly apply a sunscreen that protects against both UVA/UVB rays with an SPF of at least 30.

Makeup: The Jane Iredale® mineral makeup collection is perfect for all skin types and was recently awarded the Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommen-dation.  Jane Iredale® offers non-comedogenic makeup that won’t block pores and provides SPF coverage, with broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection from sun damage.

Facial Rejuvena-tion: Treatments like Photofacial IPL and chemical peels can help erase areas of dark hyperpigmentation and tighten lax skin that results from sun exposure; however, it’s important to remember that sun damage is cumulative and the damaging internal effects sun exposure can have on skin cell replication should be prevented with regular sunscreen usage.

At Abraham Medical Cosmetics, we love the outdoors and soaking up the sun just as much as the next person; however, we always encourage our patients to practice safe-sun techniques – no matter your age!  To learn more about our products and services, give us a call at 770-978-1161.  Be sure to connect with us on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ for the latest skin care news and updates!
