Cheryl’s Adventure – Once Through The Prism

Birthdays, Anniversaries, Christmas, Weddings, and Baby Showers! Each special occasion is often celebrated with the joyous tradition of giving gifts. We sometimes wrap them in boxes with specifically chosen paper and matching ribbons and bows or fit them snuggly in beautiful bags with overflowing bright sparkly tissue paper.

Some of the greatest gifts, however, are those that come to us made from the heart and wrapped in love. These gifts typically take time to create and become priceless to those receiving them.

Over the years, my family has been notorious for placing greater emphasis on the creativity of gifts rather than the actual monetary value. Some of my favorite gifts we’ve exchanged have included poems, drawings, coupon books and a holiday favorite – gingerbread houses!

cherylsiloWhen thinking of how this tradition started with our family, my dad immediately pops into my mind. (And Yes, I admit it! I’m a Daddy’s girl!) Dad always encouraged us to use our talents when giving to others.  He led the way with his incredible poems and writings. He often shared with us stories that taught us how to be successful in life, but more importantly, how to be prepared for our eternal life.

When I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer I relied heavily on the many lessons my dad had taught me.  Through his stories, I found that God is here for everyone, all the time.  We can trust in God to guide us through the healing process one day at a time. Of course, there were many more lessons, but one of the greatest realizations was that I, too, shared my Daddy’s passion to tell stories and help others.  Soon, I began writing myself.  I opened up and shared my experiences with others hoping that I could make a positive impact in at least one person’s life; the same way my Daddy had helped me.

Around the time we were dealing with all of the cancer crap, my Dad had written a book for his family. He wanted a way for his lessons to be handed down through the generations that would follow.  I read his book and realized that it not only majorly impacted my life, but it ultimately helped to save it! This book is the main reason I was able to approach cancer with my positive and peaceful attitude!

Then one day it hit me! My Dad’s greatest story was intended to be a personal keepsake, but I simply couldn’t keep my mouth shut!  I knew that if it helped me, it would have to help others with their personal challenges too! This unbelievable story and its life changing lessons needed to be shared with everyone I know!

So with the help of my siblings, we continued to encourage him to share the book with everyone we knew – we simply had to publish the book!  I love my Daddy, but sometimes he can be stubborn!  Three years later, my Daddy’s gift to us is now a gift we can share with all of you!

I am happy to announce, that as of August 1, 2013 my Daddy’s book, Once Through the Prism, by RJ Sutter, is available to purchase online!

For those of you wondering what the story is about I have included a quick summary of the book!

Sam Warheit is a man of routine who thrives on being in control of everything. As one of Atlanta’s top investigative journalists, he is on the crest of major success. Truth is, though, no matter how much Sam works to control everything around him, he lacks the ability to control the most important thing – his very own life.

One night in a small, unsuspecting South Carolina town, a falling star attracts too much attention and someone calls a local radio station claiming that a UFO landed. That little event makes its way online and Sam’s eyes catch the report. A crucial decision is made. Sam is determined to uncover the truth in the rumors surrounding the meteorite that fell near the small town of Walhalla. What Sam finds is far different than anything he could have ever imagined.

Once Through the Prism is a truly astonishing journey of self-discovery. If mystery, adventure, or romance is appealing to you, if you’ve ever questioned the reality of eternity, angels, or God, this book is for you!
