Gwinnett County Historical Society
The Society will meet on September 16, 2013 at 7:30pm. Meetings are held at the Historic Courthouse in Lawrenceville.
Nurse Navigator Named
Gretchen Hayward was appointed Nurse Navigator at Gwinnett Medical Center; she joins Donna Stoudenmire as they work to support and guide breast cancer patients through the diagnostic process and to assist them in the connection between GMC patients and available cancer support programs and other resources. Gretchen and Donna are nationally certified to serve as navigators by the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
Porter on Statewide Council
Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter has been elected secretary of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia. Danny Porter has been with the Gwinnett County District Attorneys’ office since 1981.

SAT Prep
A free SAT Prep class sponsored by College Nannies and Tutors will be held on September 17 from 5 until 8pm. The class will be at Gwinnett Fire Station 7, 3343 Bunten Road, Duluth. Staycation Road Trip
Eatonton, Georgia is about an hour from Gwinnett; it is in Putnam County once the Dairy Capital of Georgia and the home of the Joel Chandler Harris Museum and not much traffic. The Old School House History Museum at 305 Madison Street in Eatonton is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 until 5; on Saturdays and Sundays the museum is open from 2-4pm. • The Georgia Educators Museum groundbreaking ceremony will be held on September 29, 3pm at the proposed building location on Falcon Parkway in Flowery Branch, Georgia directly across the road from the Atlanta Falcon multimillion dollar office and practice complex.
Masonic BBQ
The Lawrenceville Masonic Lodge held the annual BBQ on Saturday August 18 at the Lawrenceville Lodge on South Perry Street. Some who assisted in this event were Dave Rusnak, Ron Denney and Worthy Master Jeff Castle. Allen McKelvey was on the clean up detail.
