For whatever reasons there are some of us who just find it difficult to work for large companies or for anyone else other than ourselves. Not to say there is anything wrong with being a 9 to 5 employee as that is a life some want as well. However, those of us who own small businesses know it is not a 9 to 5 job, it’s a passion.

A Sarah Care citizen

This summer I feel I have gotten the perfect summer “job”. Four days a week, I volunteer at Sarah Care, an adult day care facility for senior citizens who have Alzheimer’s Disease. I have been volunteering there for a year now. Before summer break, I was only able to work once a week, but it is so much more fun working more often.

On Memorial Day I went to the cemetery to put a flag on my daddy's grave, like I do for most holidays. As I was leaving and wiping away tears, I looked down at his foot stone, and it read: Hugh Frederick Snell Sr., US Army World War II, Dec. 1 1922 - Nov. 30, 1997. Purple Heart/Bronze Star Medal. I took a second glance and then I found myself smiling. That 'dash' represented his whole life!
