Gwinnett Transit is launching a pilot program on Sept. 17 that will provide six months of free door-to-door bus service in Snellville.

The on-demand service will use seven 12-passenger buses operating from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. The service is accessible to everyone and can be used for appointments, shopping, and visits, as well as to connect with GRTA buses going downtown.

"As we developed our comprehensive transit plan earlier this year, we received a lot of community feedback that serving areas like Snellville needed to be a priority," said Karen Winger, Transit Division director. "Since regular bus routes require more population density than Snellville has, we had to come up with another way to do it. Microtransit seemed to be the next best option. It's flexible and comprehensive. We hope it will be a good fit."

To schedule a pickup time for an on-demand ride, patrons can download the free Microtransit app (available for iOS and Android devices). The app allows patrons to enter pickup and drop-off locations, a pickup time, passenger count and whether a wheelchair or other mobility device is being used. Visit https://microtransitapp.com to learn more about the Microtransit app.

You can also reserve your trip by calling Gwinnett County Transit Customer Service at (770) 822-5010 and selecting the Microtransit option.
