Nominated for the Georgia Author of the Year award in multiple categories over the last three years, local author Katie Hart Smith has pinned a wide array of work ranging from medical and academic to non-fiction and children’s stories. Inspired by people, places, and political and social issues, Smith’s writing also includes a monthly column in the Gwinnett Citizen newspaper titled “From the Heart.”

Georgia First Lady Sandra Deal placed the first two installations of Smith’s Sacred Heart series, Aspirations of the Heart and Hope Never Rests, into the Governor’s Mansion Library. Smith will be a featured author at the Decatur Book Festival in September, the Milton Literary Festival in November and the Dahlonega Literary Festival in 2019.
