On Monday, Aug. 26, Life Care Centers of America recognized the contributions of volunteer Miguel Harris during the company's annual management meeting awards dinner at its headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Fifteen-year-old Harris received Life Care's Youth Volunteer of the Year Award. This honor is presented to one young person each year for extraordinary volunteer service.

"My mom took me to volunteer, and I became attached to the residents," said Harris, whose mother, Johanna Munguia, is a therapist assistant at the building. "I enjoy the routine."

Harris is a sophomore at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia, who has volunteered more than 240 hours at Life Care Center of Lawrenceville, Georgia. He calls bingo on Mondays and Wednesdays, visits one-on-one with residents and has conducted an art class for the residents.

During the facility's annual Ms. Life Care of Lawrenceville pageant, Harris assisted all day and made sure the runway and decorations were perfect for that night.
