Lights On Afterschool

On October 23, Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation, Live Healthy Gwinnett and several community partners hosted a Lights On Afterschool event at Alexander Park. The theme was Hollywood: A Walk Among the Stars. Kids and participants dressed as their favorite stars, walked the red carpet, and took part in educational and physical fitness activities.

Held annually, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide rally for afterschool programs. More than 8,000 events took place this year across the country to promote the benefits of afterschool programs. lights-after-school-190A large and growing body of evidence demonstrates improvements in attendance, behavior and academic achievement among children in afterschool programs.
