Reid Mullins Scholarship winner announced

The Reid Mullins Scholarship Committee is proud to announce the recipient for 2016 is Gabriel A. Gonzalez.  He is a graduate of South Gwinnett High School in Snellville.

Gabriel plans to attend The Citadel in South Carolina in the fall pursing a degree in exercise science.  He is the son of Henry and Carmen Gonzalez. Mr. Gonzalez graduated with a 3.7 grade point average. 

As a member of JROTC at South Gwinnett High School, Gabriel held the rank of Cadet Command Sergeant Major of Comet Battalion. He was the Commander of the Raider Team (JROTC Fitness Team), Drill Team and Color Guard Unit.  Gabriel was the wrestling team captain for two years, and he was selected as Gwinnett County Scholar Athlete during the 2013-2014 wrestling season.

Mr. Gonzalez plans to join the U. S. Army upon graduating from the Citadel as a commissioned officer.  His career goal is to be a combat medic.
