Civil Air Patrol honors high achieving youth

Lawrenceville - Civil Air Patrol's Gwinnett Composite Squadron awarded its third quarter of 2013 Cadet of the Quarter award to Cadet Staff Sergeant Thomas Greene. C/SSgt. Greene is a freshmen Bob Jones Home School student in Lawrenceville, GA. He enjoys playing classical piano, guitar and is an avid archery enthusiast. Cadet Green also has had the lead role in a summer theater group for the last several years.

Cadet Greene had excellent attendance during the qualifying period in addition to being an outstanding member of the squadron's celebrated ceremonial Color Guard team. Color Guard present the Colors at a variety of community events from marching in parades, official presentations at Veteran of Foreign Wars or the  Lilburn Lady's Club.  He is also a new member of the squadron’s Cyber Patriot team which competes in a national competition against 1200 other teams learning Internet Security and Assurance.

The program is designed to be an objective measure of a cadet's performance in many areas of the CAP Cadet Program.  Some of the benchmarks are attendance, weekend activities, special teams, scores on written aerospace and leadership exams, uniform inspections, promotions, drill downs, school honor roll, community service and others.  Each element has an assigned point valve.  All together it requires a cadet to live to a high standard.

The COQ program has helped the Squadron to have substantial growth and at the same time has improved the over all quality of the Cadet Program. Cadet meetings are held at Briscoe Air Field, 6:30P.M. Thursday evenings in Lawrenceville, GA.
