We’ve come a long way since Maj. Gen. Allen Daniel, of the Georgia Militia’s 4th Division, issued orders for a new and better fort to be built at Hog Mountain in October 1813. Gwinnett County was established five years later in 1818 and our residents have been making things new and better ever since.

Lifeguards and other staff members at Gwinnett County’s aquatics facilities have spent weeks preparing special games, activities, and prizes to mark Swim Safely Week at all County-operated indoor and outdoor pools starting on the Fourth of July.

Animal Control: building on success

You may not have noticed, but the Gwinnett Animal Shelter has staged a dramatic turnaround over the past few years. A newfound spirit and enthusiasm for helping animals has spread quickly from the staff to the many volunteers and rescue groups who keep the place running on a daily basis.
