With the arrival of cooler weather, it’s a great time to get out and enjoy Gwinnett County’s outstanding parks. There’s truly something for everyone.

We’ve come a long way since Maj. Gen. Allen Daniel, of the Georgia Militia’s 4th Division, issued orders for a new and better fort to be built at Hog Mountain in October 1813. Gwinnett County was established five years later in 1818 and our residents have been making things new and better ever since.

My fellow commissioners and I often talk about our vision for Gwinnett County’s future. One of our shared goals is to make Gwinnett a place where our children and grandchildren will want to live, work, learn, and play.

Lifeguards and other staff members at Gwinnett County’s aquatics facilities have spent weeks preparing special games, activities, and prizes to mark Swim Safely Week at all County-operated indoor and outdoor pools starting on the Fourth of July.
