Three Gwinnett schools honored for sportsmanship

Three Gwinnett County high schools—Meadowcreek High, Berkmar High, and Lanier High— earned recognition for demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship during the 2013-14 school year. The schools were among 48 earning the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award.

TCSG State Board approves the appointment of Dr. D. Glen Cannon
as the 
next president of Gwinnett Technical College

Commissioner Ron Jackson informed the state board that oversees the Technical College System of Georgia that he selected Dr. D. Glen Cannon, the president of Chattahoochee Valley Technical College in Phenix City, Alabama, to become the next president of Gwinnett Technical College.

Pfizer to pay $35 Million to 42 States and limit off-Label use and promotion of the immunosuppressive drug Rapamune®

The Governor’s Office of Consumer Protection, along with Attorneys General from 41 other states, have reached a $35 million settlement with Pfizer Inc., who as parent of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc.               agrees to be bound by the judgment, to resolve allegations that Wyeth unlawfully promoted Rapamune, an immunosuppressive drug currently approved by the FDA as prophylactic for organ rejection after kidney transplant surgery.
