The Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services (Friends) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer-run organization dedicated to raising funds to privately support or supplement select senior programs in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Their mission is to privately support or supplement select Gwinnett County Senior Services programs that directly address senior needs, such as the cost of meals for seniors, home repair and emergency assistance, home safety, health and well being screenings, and kinship.
Many of the seniors served are age 85 and older, unable to drive or to prepare meals. Many have suffered the loss of a spouse or no longer have family members around who are able to assist them with their needs. Friends strives to allow seniors to remain in their homes, rather than having to enter a nursing home or care facility, often at taxpayer expense.
Roger had this to say about this year’s event, “I am so very proud of my staff for the fabulous work they have done coordinating every detail of this event for so many years now. We have been able to make a positive impact on the lives of others through this annual event and this year was definitely our most successful tournament and I’d have to say God was smiling on us as He gave us one of the most beautiful days any golfer could want.”

Roger Green and Green Financial have had additional recent accomplishments. In February, Roger was again recognized in Barron’s in the Top 1200 Advisors State by State Ranking, a list he has appeared on annually since 2009. In April, Green Financial was named a Top 25 Finalist for the Gwinnett Chamber Pinnacle Small Business of the Year Awards. GFR has been recognized as a top small business in Gwinnett by the Chamber 9 times – in 2005, 2006, and every year from 2008-2014. In May, Roger was again honored as the Top Representative at his broker/dealer for the 13th of the past 15 years.
Different from some other charity events, Roger Green and Green Financial pay for both golf and dinner and also donate many of the raffle and auction items so that all money paid by sponsors and participants goes directly to the charity with no deductions for expenses. This gets more money to the charity and the event itself helps to promote awareness of the charity in the hope that more will give to sustain the charity or will volunteer their time to help FOGCSS achieve their mission.
