Veteran’s Day... paying it forward
By Beth Volpert

Harry Khachadourian was born in Palestine and his parents were from Turkey. Harry grew up as an Armenian Christian in a war-torn time and place. He spent many years moving from one “safe” place to another. His father and uncle owned a shoe factory in Palestine in the 1940’s and after the King David Hotel was bombed; Harry’s life began to resemble the movie “Exodus”.

George Walton Academy Drum Major, Mackenzie Britt loves a good competition. Whether it is on the field directing the GWA Marching Bulldogs or in the classroom, Mackenzie wants to be the best she can be.

Community - which side do you sit on?
By Beth Volpert

It all began with this year’s Homecoming at South Gwinnett. Coach Jack Britt and I had divided loyalties for both South and Grayson. Coach Jack asked me, “Which side do we sit on?”

This November 2013 issue of the Gwinnett Citizen begins our 26th year of sharing and publishing community news. We feel ‘if it’s local - it’s news’ and there is a whole lot of good news to share in Gwinnett!

Respecting and remembering the past; embracing the present; preparing for the future; are all ingredients we treasure and share in the Gwinnett Citizen.
