When Suwanee resident Andrea Ide received her master’s in education from Harvard University in 2009, it never occurred to her that she would devote her career to cupcakes. A lover of baking since childhood, Ide moved back to metro Atlanta from Boston with plans to put her Georgia Gwinnett College bachelor’s degree in psychology and Harvard master’s degree to use by teaching psychology to high school or college students.

Lawrenceville – Civil Air Patrol’s Gwinnett Composite Squadron awarded its third quarter of 2013 Cadet of the Quarter award to Cadet Staff Sergeant Thomas Greene. C/SSgt. Greene is a freshmen Bob Jones Home School student in Lawrenceville, GA. He enjoys playing classical piano, guitar and is an avid archery enthusiast. Cadet Green also has had the lead role in a summer theater group for the last several years.

Gwinnett’s STAR teacher named a “Top Ten Educator of Year”

Gwinnett County’s STAR teacher has yet another distinction to add to his list of awards: that of being named one of the “Top Ten Educators of the Year.” The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) recently announced that Mr. Dana Kling of Brookwood High is one of 10 teachers from around the country named a 2013 Claes Nobel Educator of the Year. Mr. Kling, an American Literature and Advanced Placement Literature teacher, was formally honored  Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Carter Center in Atlanta. The other nine teachers had been invited to the event in Georgia where Governor Deal had declared December 7 as National Society of High School Scholars Day. The event also included scholarship presentations and panel discussions.

The Combs Family back to a “norma” life in the USA. The Combs Family left Grayson in 2008 for a three year mission trip to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania which is just south of Nairobi, Kenya. The experience was a combination of ministry, international education, new friendships and fun.

In 2008, when Pat and Paige Combs told their kids that the idea of taking on a mission assignment was going to be a reality, Madison and Brandon prepared to pack. The family was assigned to Dar Es Salaam on the coast of Tanzania. It was about as different from Grayson, Georgia as the family could get and would turn out to be a life-changing experience for everyone. Reentry into the lives they had left showed each member of the family exactly how they had been forever changed-for the better.
