The first of its kind held in Gwinnett County, chapter members are proud of this signature metro Atlanta event as it is the culminating activity of months of enriching activities including self-empowering workshops, field trips, a Mother/Daughter Luncheon, and a Talent Showcase for today’s “little misses”.
Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter President Karan Rhodes said, “We are honored to have local news celebrity, Aungelique Proctor, emcee this year’s pageant. UAO is proud to provide to the community such a valuable experience, where our young participants have the opportunity to gain insight and exposure to leadership training, the arts, and ways they can personally serve the community.”
Proceeds from the pageant will benefit the Beauty P. Baldwin Scholarship Fund and other programs benefiting the community, such as mentoring, playground improvement, feeding hungry children, book and clothing drives, and environmental beautification – just to name a few. UAO has awarded over $180,000 in scholarships to deserving students since being chartered in Gwinnett County in 1994.
Members of the chapter are hard at work planning the pageant experience of a lifetime. JeNeane Hamilton serves as LMAKA Chairman while Shani Burd and Debra Meadows serve as LMAKA Co-Chairmen.

About Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter
On January 29, 1994, thirty aspiring professional women chartered the Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The group gathered to implement and support the international programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated as they pertain to the needs of Gwinnett County, Georgia. Today, Upsilon Alpha Omega, the first African-American Greek-letter organization in Gwinnett County is over 300 members strong, and has made a significant impact on the community.
