Gwinnett’s at it again!
This past summer our immediate staff (family and Meredith who is like family but much calmer) made a decision by not making a decision. None of us went on vacation. By late August we were a pleasant but zombie like group.

Throughout the county, I have observed pine trees that are turning brown and dying. Additionally, the Extension office has received numerous phone calls from residents concerned about pine trees on their property.
In just a few years, attacks at public venues (schools, the workplace, shopping malls) have become all too common. Firearms and bombs seem to be the preferred weapons. Aside from becoming aware of a bomb, and vacating the premises, there isn’t much a person can do to avoid injury or death. But when an “active shooter” is on site, other options do exist.

The evening will be filled with the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) to be enjoyed by all ages, and also includes crowd-favorite DJ Rob, all occurring in Downtown Duluth. As with every Fridays-N-Duluth, the fun begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m.

Gwinnett county made history with the appointment of DJ Jeyaram, Esq, to the Gwinnett Magistrate Court
On Sept. 20, 2016, judicial history was made with the appointment of Georgia’s first South Asian American judge in Gwinnett County.
The Hon. DJ Jeyaram was sworn in at his investiture as a Gwinnett County magistrate judge (pro hac). Judge Jeyaram joins Magistrate Judge Ruth Rocker McMullin as the second Asian Pacific American Judge currently serving in Gwinnett (Judge Chung Lee, now with Duluth Municipal Court, previously served as a Gwinnett County magistrate judge as well).

My mama always taught me that there were two things we ought never to talk about, and those are religion and politics. As is true of so many things she taught me, she was right about that. I’ve pondered over the years as to why this is true, and here’s what I’ve come up with: religion and politics are both things about which we Americans are very passionate. That’s a good thing, by the way.
