How do I keep my parents from being scammed?

I love talking about how to keep our elderly loved ones safe from those that would take advantage of them. I personally believe that there is a special spot in a very warm place reserved for those that would stoop to such a level as to try and take financial advantage of an elderly person.

Kiwanis Club of Loganville is going to party like a rock star! Whaaat? Where? When? Why?

Kiwanis Club of Loganville is going to party like a rock star! Whaaat? Where? When? Why?

Glad you asked. The rock has three holes in it. It’s a bowling party, of course, at Stars and Strikes, 479 Brightwell Court in Loganville, where we will be throwing strikes and gutter balls to raise money in support of the many non-profit organizations that diligently serve members of the Loganville community.

Organizations such as The Boys & Girls Club, Child Advocacy Center, Communities in Schools, F.I.S.H., Georgia District, Hoke O’Kelly Library, LHS Key Club Scholarship, Loganville HS CTI, Pregnancy Resource Center, Shepherd’s Staff, Sheriff’s Drug Education, Special Olympics and Teen Victim Impact all benefit from the financial support and sweat equity volunteered by Kiwanians and concerned individuals just like you. The real beneficiaries are the residents of Loganville who, from time to time, could use a little hope and a helping hand.

The good news is that you are ALL invited to come out on Sunday, June 11th from 4:30pm-6:30pm for two hours of family fun. This opportunity to give and have fun at the same time is just too great to miss. For only $20 per person you’ll get pizza, bowling shoes, unlimited bowling and a wonderful rush of endorphins – the good hormones you get when you do something awesome to make a difference in the lives of others. All proceeds are directly donated.

There is still time for small businesses to sign up as sponsors. Your contribution of $100 will let the community know that you appreciate their patronage and that you are invested in the health and well being of all the citizens of Loganville.

Kiwanis Club of Loganville meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 12 noon for just an hour. Community-minded business is conducted. Lunch is included with the membership. Our doors swing on “welcome” hinges. Why don’t you stop by? We promise we’ll make you feel right at home.

There are not many things in life you can be sure of, but this one thing is certain. People make a living by what they do, but we can all make a difference in a life by what we give. Make a family fun night date with your relatives and friends to party like a rock star and bowl your heart out at Stars and Strikes, June 11th from 4:30-6:30pm!! See you there! For more information, contact Kiwanis President, Rob Leatherwood at (678) 876-7546.
