Atlanta – On Friday, April 21 the Gwinnett Tech Foundation awarded its inaugural Nana Grant to Amber Aur, a health sciences student at Gwinnett Technical College. The mission of Nana Grants is to provide childcare grants to eligible student mothers attending Georgia’s public technical colleges and universities.

April 25, 2017 – At its April meeting, the Gwinnett County Board of Education named two principals for the coming school year. Shane Orr, an associate principal at Central Gwinnett High School, has been named the new principal at the Lawrenceville school following the retirement of the current principal, Maryanne Grimes. Kara Dutton, the principal of Peachtree Elementary School will transfer to become the principal of Jackson Elementary as the current principal, Dr. Ruth Markham, retires.

Grocery shopping. It’s become more of a social event for me than it is a matter of necessity. The florist and the produce guy have become friends of mine over the years, and we always make a point to catch up when I’m in there. I like that; so many of the “hometown” niceties are falling by the wayside these days.
