Equine Therapy- A Legacy of The First Southerners

As Gwinnett county’s population approaches one million, it’s difficult to picture the landscape as it existed in the early 19th century, when there were no paved roads, no subdivisions and, believe it or not, no traffic. At that time, the county was occupied primarily by the Creek and Cherokee tribes, which are referred to by many archaeologists as, “The First Southerners.”

Hey Ya’ll | Tasteful Native Costumes

Shortly after Snell and I got married, we decided we would chaperone the graduating class of Duluth High School on a cruise to Nassau and Free Port. We had a stop in Puerto Rico for the evening, and a bunch of the boys wanted to go into Puerto Rico. They didn’t feel comfortable enough to go by themselves, so they approached us about going with them.

Tips for Teachers to Gain Students’

Students’ attention can be difficult to obtain, especially in a culture of social media and technology. As teachers, we are always seeking ways to get and maintain our students’ focus and attention so they can comprehend what is presented and master the material. Following are a few suggestions for doing this!

Elections hosts poll official hiring events

Lawrenceville – Citizens looking for ways to get involved in the electoral process and give back to the community are invited to Gwinnett County’s upcoming poll official hiring events on Feb. 21 in Norcross and Feb. 24 in Snellville.

The Voter Registrations and Elections Division is looking for citizens of all backgrounds, but has an urgent need for bilingual poll workers, particularly Spanish speakers.

SPLOST park and trail funding

SNELLVILLE – The city council approved a measure Monday, which will help pay for the bulk of the new Oak Road Park and the proposed Towne Center Multi-Use Trail.

The city will use a maximum of $1 million in County Special Local Option Sales Tax funds to pay for a majority of the costs of the two projects. Oak Road Park had a price tag of $400,000 while the trail system is expected to cost $1.25 million.
