Fourth Annual 5K Steps Off This Memorial Day Weekend

DULUTH — The Southeastern Railway Museum and the city of Duluth will host the family-friendly Fast Track 5K this Memorial Day weekend.

The fourth-annual running of the race steps off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, in downtown Duluth and features a patriotic theme. Participants and spectators are encouraged to dress in patriotic attire.

Atlanta Air Quality Worsened, Finds 2018 ‘State of the Air’ Report

Despite continued improvement in air quality, residents’ health remains at risk from unhealthy air, according to American Lung Association’s 19th annual air quality report
 
ATLANTA – The American Lung Asociation’s 2018 “State of the Air” report found Atlanta ranked as the 23rd most polluted city for ozone in the nation. Compared to the 2017 report, Atlanta has seen an increase in the number of unhealthy days of high ozone. This is in keeping with a trend seen across the nation of higher ozone pollution levels.

Gwinnett County Public Schools seniors awarded Corporate-Sponsored National Merit Scholarships

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced that seven Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) seniors, representing three of the district’s high schools, were selected as 2018 Corporate-Sponsored National Merit Scholarship award winners, earning corporate-sponsored scholarships to help fund their college education. These National Merit Scholars are part of a group of distinguished students nationwide judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
