Commissioners adopt 2019 budget

The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners adopted a $1.82 billion budget for 2019 Thursday. Board members held a public hearing on the budget Dec. 10 and accepted comments in writing and online before making their final decision.

BOE names two principals at December meeting

At its regular monthly meeting, the Gwinnett County Board of Education named two local school leaders to fill upcoming vacancies prompted by the appointment of current principals to new positions. Both of these appointments are effective January 2, 2019.

Atlanta Nonprofit Turns 72 School Buses Into Anti-Human Trafficking Billboard

Georgia governor-elect, attorney general and nonprofit Street Grace participate in stunt to raise awareness for sex trafficking in advance of the big game

More than 3,600 children are sold into sex slavery every year in Georgia – enough to fill 72 school buses. To shine a light on this issue, this morning Atlanta-based nonprofit Street Grace wrapped 72 school buses in anti-human trafficking messaging and sent them through Atlanta near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, creating a mile-long moving billboard. The goal: change the conversation from “traffic” to “traffick.”
