To commemorate its silver anniversary, the Fowler Family Y will host daily events including multiple birthday bashes in its lobby on Monday and a prayer breakfast at its John Manning Playground on Tuesday. Additionally, the Y will play late 90’s music during group exercise classes on Wednesday and hold an evening prayer on Thursday at the John Manning Playground. Finally, the Y will host an event honoring the Robert D. Fowler Family Y on Friday with Mike Mason, mayor of Peachtree Corners and Lauren Koontz, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
“It is a privilege to serve as an anchor community institution and help families connect and grow,” said Katie Furlough, executive director of Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA. “Over the past 25 years, we have been able to provide youth sports, afterschool care, summer camps and much more to Peachtree Corners residents. We look forward to positively impacting our community for years to come.”
The Robert D. Fowler Family Y has been an instrumental organization in the community and has created various impactful activities and events in its history, including contributing to the creation of the Light Up the Corners race. Additionally, the branch is the first YMCA in metro Atlanta to introduce group cycle classes. The organization’s most recent effort included the opening of the John Manning Playground to honor a dedicated YMCA volunteer. The Y sought volunteers, members, and businesses to support construction and help raise funds to honor the beloved Peachtree Corners citizen. Among the many contributors, was Manning’s granddaughter, Caroline, who created a summer acting camp to help raise proceeds for the playground.
“We’re excited to celebrate this milestone and the Robert D. Fowler Y’s impact on the Peachtree Corners community,” said Lauren Koontz, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
