Attracting more than 13,000 attendees to the City’s Downtown, Rock’n Ribville will bring local businesses, a Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) National Competition and traditional Southern barbeque together with live music, arts, crafts and kid-friendly activities. The event will also celebrate Georgia’s fastest growing four-year institution, Georgia Gwinnett College. Festivities will run from 12-7:30pm on the City’s newest event venue, The Lawrenceville Lawn, located on Luckie Street in the Downtown.
Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson said, “Rock’n Ribville is Lawrenceville’s premier event of the year, bringing heightened awareness of the College to the surrounding community while showcasing the local scene to thousands of visitors from all over the South. It is a great event and we are proud to call it our own!”
Presented by U.S. Auto Sales and Bud Light, Rock’n Ribville is partnering with 94.9 The Bull, Radio 105.7, and Talk Radio 640 WGSTto provide a live broadcast from the event. The program will also feature Main Stage performances by Dirt Romeo, Mad Margritt, and The Georgia Satellites, all kicking off at noon with Georgia Gwinnett College and a local ‘Grizzly Burger’ Eating Contest.
KCBS sanctions and judges BBQ competitions across the U.S. and promotes barbeque as America’s favorite cuisine. It is the largest society of barbeque enthusiasts in the world. Being a newly sanctioned KCBS event allows Rock’n Ribville to invite teams from across the country to join in the annual BBQ competition for a chance to win prize money in various categories, including chicken, ribs, pork and brisket.
“Rock’n Ribville is one of Gwinnett’s most popular festivals with over 13,000 attendees,” said Mark Mullin, President of the LTTA Board of Directors. “This event attracts residents of Gwinnett County and beyond as it offers a great atmosphere, excellent entertainment and fantastic food. We are excited to be celebrating another year of this successful event and we welcome everyone to Historic Lawrenceville to enjoy all that Rock’n Ribville has to offer.”
