Crews Middle partnering for Financial Literacy

Just when you thought good money management was being lost on the next generation, Rod Hames, a Business/Computer Education teacher and Business Partner Liaison at Crews Middle School and Roger Green, President & CEO of Green Financial Resources (GFR) are partnering to help further educate Crews students on basic financial concepts through the Green Financial Scholars Program.

In October, more than 50 students from Crews Middle School in Lawrenceville celebrated and received a certificate for their completion of the Green Financial Scholars Program.

The program is an interactive online platform that builds the foundation for making good financial decisions in such areas as credit and debt, saving and investing, planning and money management, income and careers, financial responsibility and decision making, and insurance and risk management.

Mr. Hames steps outside the box to educate his students in business concepts through a variety of activities and events.

One event, modeled after the TV show Shark Tank, had several local business leaders listening to entrepreneurial students present their business ideas. Mr. Green and some of his staff donated their time to participate in the Shark Tank event, as well as prior career days.

Mr. Hames approached Green Financial looking for a possible sponsorship of the financial literacy program, knowing of Mr. Green’s passion for serving his community and for providing financial education.

GFR is proud to partner with EverFi, to help promote financial literacy through the Green Financial Scholars Program presentation of their Vault software. EverFi is the leading education technology company focused on teaching, assessing, badging, and certifying students in critical skills – and creator of the online program.

GFR’s sponsorship of the Green Financial Scholars Program is also being implemented at Five Forks Middle School in Lawrenceville and North Gwinnett Middle School in Sugar Hill.
