The students read aloud some of the qualifications for Teacher of the Year followed by Bender reading the Proclamation.
Also in attendance were Cheri Carter, principal of Brookwood Elementary School and Perry Roberts, executive director of Institutional Development at Gwinnett Technical College who was acting Principal for a Day at BES.
Following the presentation, Carter invited Bender to visit the fourth grade classroom of Jeane Sammons. There, Bender, president of the Snellville Entrepreneur Council, learned about curriculum used to prepare children for their futures. The students are learning how to choose prospective jobs, what to wear on an interview and how to perform and keep a job. The students shared the interview process and the varied positions they hold including working with custodians and escorting students from the bus to their classrooms.
With the help of students from Brookwood High School’s Entrepreneur class, fourth grade students will soon be operating a school store called The Colt Caboodle.
