2015 GCPS high school graduate heading to White House for meeting with the First Lady

A 2015 Norcross High School graduate is going to the White House to meet the First Lady.

Sarah Thomas, who will attend Clemson University in the fall, was selected by the Georgia School Counselor Association (GSCA) to represent the organization at First Lady Michelle Obama’s Beating the Odds Summit at the White House on July 23. Thomas is one of only two students in Georgia and one of 150 nationwide invited to the celebratory event.

Mrs. Obama’s Reach Higher initiative is hosting the event. The initiative is the First Lady’s effort to inspire students in America to graduate from high school and continue their education through a professional training program, community college, a four-year college or university.

Students at the Beating The Odds Summit will be introduced to some basic tools needed to succeed while they purse their secondary education and or professional training. They also will be encouraged to network among their peers who have diverse backgrounds.
