From June 21 – July 4, Kroger customers rounded up purchases to the nearest dollar with the difference benefitting the USO. Donations will be used to provide financial assistance to brave service men, women and their families. Recently, Kroger customers also contributed more than $70,000 to the USO through a separate initiative, “Honoring Our Heroes.”
“We are extremely grateful for our customer’s generosity in showing their support for our military,” says Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “The USO is a wonderful organization that benefits our military and their families who make sacrifices for our country. We are truly honored to partner with them for this initiative.”
More than 2 million Americans serve on active duty or in the reserves today, including many Kroger stores associates. Kroger has partnered with the USO through “Honoring Our Heroes,” a multi-faceted program designed to show Kroger’s deep gratitude to our active duty troops and our nation’s 23 million veterans.
Coca Cola and Kroger also teamed up on the popular “Share a Coke” promotion to develop the exclusive “Share a Coke, Support the Troops” campaign.
Established in 1941, the USO – a nonprofit, congressionally chartered organization – supports American troops in combat, as well as military personnel on local bases, the National Guard, Guard Reserves and other personnel providing humanitarian aid.
