Qualifying begins at 8:30 a.m., Monday Aug. 31 and closes at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 4.
The election is Nov. 3.
Those interested in running for election can pick up a Notice of Candidacy and Affidavit at City Hall, 2342 Oak Road, from City Clerk Phyllis Richardson.
Payment is due when the Notice of Candidacy and Affidavit are picked up. Fees are $180 to run for mayor and $120 for the council posts.
The elections are non-partisan (i.e. candidates do not run as members of a particular political party, and their individual party affiliations are not relevant to their position in city government). The city is governed by a mayor and five councilmembers who each run for a specific post but are elected by a citywide majority vote.
Elected officials serve for terms of four years or until their respective successors are elected and sworn in.
