The case will be considered by the Planning Commission at the Oct. 27 regular meeting and is scheduled for first and second Mayor and Council readings on Nov. 9 and Dec. 12 respectively.
The store will be different than other Kroger stores near the city as it will have a clothing section, a cafe and a gas station.
The developers have expressed a desire to be annexed into the city and notification of the annexation will be mailed to the county this week.
There are similar Kroger stores in Athens and Gainesville.
