Brookwood Marching Band and London Officials Hold Ceremony for Invitation to London’s New Year’s Day Parade 

SNELLVILLE, Ga. ‒ The award-winning Brookwood High School (BHS) Marching Band has been invited to participate in the 2017 London’s New Year’s Day Parade (LNYDP).

On Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 6:00 p.m., Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London and Representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Roger Bramble, will formally present the band with the official invitation at the Brookwood Community Stadium. Deputy Lieutenant Bramble will be accompanied on this year’s visits by London Parade and Festival Founder and Executive Director Robert Bone and Assistant Director, Lizzie Bone. The event is open to the public. 

BHS band entering the stadium 190 On January 1, 2017, Brookwood’s marching band students will perform in the 2.2 mile prestigious parade, the largest event of its kind with more than 10,000 performers from around the world. The parade attracts a street audience of around 500,000 and a global television audience of tens of millions and is a major entry in the United Kingdom’s calendar of events. 

The band will be raising funds for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity through community donations, business sponsorships, and fundraisers.
