Iris will now be eligible to compete in the 39th annual National Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest, to be held on March 25, 2014 in New York. Iris is looking forward to competing in the national contest because she is eligible to win $2,500, tickets to see a Broadway show, a year’s supply of Odor-Eaters products, and finally having her winning sneakers displayed in the Odor-Eaters Hall of Fumes.
History of the National Rotten Sneaker Contest
The contest began 39 years ago as a promotion created by a Montpelier Vermont sporting goods owner who wanted to advertise a new line of athletic shoes. At the Montpelier Department of Recreation, the owner discovered a perfect pair of superbly rotten sneakers that would look great in the store ad. The recreation director seized the moment and created a new contest…the search for the worst rotten sneakers! The makers of Odor-Eaters products caught a “whiff” of this grand event, and became the official sponsor in 1988. Odor-Eaters manufacturer a full line of products including insoles, sprays and powders to help protect feet from excessive foot odor and wetness.
