Each year, Grayson celebrates Spring with the Grayson Day Parade and Festival. More than 200 vendors are expected to share their arts, crafts, food, music, and enterprises in Grayson Community Park. Last year, more than 5,000 people enjoyed their warm welcome to the City of Grayson and the 2016 festival is expected to be bigger than ever, according to event coordinators City Administrator Laura Cone and Mayor Allison Wilkerson.
“All of our food spots were filled early,” said Cone. “We’ve once again expanded the venue to accommodate more vendors and more free activities for the children.”
Free activities for the children include pony rides, petting farm, trackless train, space ball, inflatable bounce houses and obstacle course.
The Grayson Day Parade steps off at 10:00 a.m. with the theme “Simply The Best.”
“We are very excited that so many of our small businesses and festivals were recognized as being The Best of Gwinnett by readers of Gwinnett Magazine,” said Mayor Wilkerson. “We love being home to so many exceptional and innovative small businesses. As a city, we want to also recognize that what makes our city the absolute best is our phenomenal community.”
In true Grayson form, the parade will include float entries from all of the celebrated business as well as tractors, beauty queens, little league teams, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, marching bands, and Grayson High School’s teams and cheerleaders. The festival ends at 4, but the fun goes through the evening. Lanier Jazz brings music to the park at 6:00 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and dinner and enjoy the music while we set up for our first family movie in the park. “The Good Dinosaur” begins at dusk.
