City of Norcross to Celebrate Memorial Day

May 30th celebration to include food, music and fun

Norcross – The City of Norcross will be hosting a patriotic celebration for Memorial Day on May 30 in Thrasher Park beginning at 11:30 a.m. that will include food, music and a special guest speaker.

313th Army Brass Quintet Band

Headlining the event, Major Nelson Ramos, retired, US Army, will speak at noon followed by a performance by the 313th Army Brass Quintet Band. Hotdogs will be provided by the Masonic Lodge. 

flag photo rt190The May 30th Memorial Day Celebration is just the beginning of an exciting lineup of summertime events for Norcross. The city will also be hosting the Summer Concert Series beginning on May 27; the BluesBerry Music and Beer Festival on June 18; Red White and Boom on July 3; and Jazz in the Alley beginning on July 16. Join historic Norcross this summer in grooving to 80’s music, singing along to Jimmy Buffett tunes and swaying to cool jazz. All concerts are free and local restaurants are happy to create the perfect picnic for concert and event goers.

“We are thrilled to offer our citizens and friends of Norcross a celebration of summer through these events and a fantastic concert series,” said City of Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson. “We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the creative energy of our city.”

The Summer Concert Series kicks off on Friday, May 27 and continues thru September in Thrasher Park. Jazz in the Alley returns once again on July 16 as they transform Betty Mauldin Park into a street party with a funky vibe for four great concerts into October.

On June 18, the BluesBerry Music and Beer Festival will be held in Betty Mauldin Park and Jones St. from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. Your mood will surely lighten with the lineup of blues musicians set to entertain into the evening. Don’t forget to look for Norcross’ downtown merchants and restaurants that will be creating signature “BluesBerry” cocktails, desserts, specials and more!
