Peachtree Corners Eric Christ Wins Peachtree Corners Post 2 Council Seat

Peachtree Corners – Eric Christ, 48, defeated Stephen Peet, 60, to win the Post 2 council seat in the special election held May 24.

After he had learned he had won the election, Eric Christ (Right) poses with his wife Maureen, his youngest of two daughters and mother in law (L to R).

Christ collected 632 votes while Peet captured 325 votes. The final votes included absentee and early voter ballots.

I will bring to the city council the ideas and suggestions I heard while knocking on doors during my campaign.”

The special election was called in March after the Post 2 council seat was vacated when Jay Lowe, who had served as councilmember since the city was founded, resigned to run for the state representative seat for District 95.

The mayor and council members for Posts 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 have held their seats since the city incorporated as Gwinnett County’s newest city in July 2012.

“We’re are pleased to welcome Eric as the new councilmember for Post 2 and look forward to working with him,” said Mayor Mike Mason. “We thank both candidates for their willingness to serve their city.”

Christ will be sworn into office at the next City Council meeting on June 21.
