This summer was the end of our McKnight era- this family has had Grayson cheerleaders for the last twelve years and the family baby, Melanie McKnight, is finally a senior. All members of this dear family have worked for us at one time or another. Melanie can currently be found working at Friends restaurant in Grayson and otherwise enjoying the end of her high school career.
North Gwinnett High School is one of many of our high schools that is getting a new head football coach this year. North is welcoming Coach Bill Stewart. We are familiar with his talent as he was the impressive Defensive Coordinator for Mill Creek for the last three years. Anyone that has been to a Mill Creek game could recognize how talented he is. We can’t wait to see him in action at North Gwinnett. Featured are his seniors this year.

Grayson is also welcoming – or should I say welcoming back in a new role – Coach Christian Hunnicutt. He spent a year with the Rams in 2015. The bulk of his career was spent as the Offensive Coordinator at Buford High School and during his time with the team, they won an almost unbelievable 7 state championships. He has also been involved in the Grayson youth football league in the past, donating his time to work with the younger Rams. The Rams should have a fantastic season.Central Gwinnett High School Football seniors were their usual exuberant selves. We have always had fun coming up with new concepts with this team. This year Coach Todd Woffard had us hashtag the season #sauce. We loved the picture but had to have it explained to us. Apparently “sauce” means confidence. They boys are wearing all three styles of Central’s uniforms this year – including the awesome new gray jerseys.
It is a thing to “jump for joy” when you earn the coveted spot of Drum Major at Brookwood High School. With 300 members, BHS has the largest band in the state. Senior Busola Banjoh and juniors Connor Bowler and Taelor Matos look forward to leading the Band to victory in several competitions this year with their themed show “Masked”.
We did take a break from seniors and sports pictures to photograph a very exciting event for Grayson residents. The Grand Opening of the new bakery Sweet Brown Suga. The owners are sisters Danielle Bonaparte and Karima Goodman. Karima has a degree in baking and pastry arts and most recently was a baker at the Ritz Carlton in Atlanta. Anyone who has visited the bakery knows Danielle, she is the friendly and customer service oriented woman that often greets you with a huge smile as you walk in the door. Our staff loves it there.
Engaged couple Brittany Johnson and Michael Butler were destined to find each other. Their moms were high school classmates and Michael grew up playing ball with Brittany’s brother, Casey. Michael and Casey were even roommates in college. Michael’s sister in law began to work with Brittany as a teacher. Through all these possible connections, it wasn’t until they were reintroduced at a friend’s wedding that sparks really started to fly and the rest is history. This adorable couple will wed in November of this year.
As we enter the 2017-2018 school year, we can only hope that much like Central’s football team, it is #SAUCE!
