Principals named for Creekland and Dacula middle schools and Discovery High School

At its regular meeting in May, the Gwinnett County Board of Education tapped three leaders to take the reins of schools for the 2018-19 school year.

• Dr. Kimberly Birds, an assistant principal at Northbrook Middle School, will be the new principal of Creekland Middle School. She will take over for Dr. Eddie Maresh who is taking a district leadership role as a Human Resources Staffing Director.

• Dacula Middle School will gain a new leader in Kimberly Bussey, who currently serves as an assistant principal at Twin Rivers Middle School. Ms. Bussey will succeed Dr. Kellye Riggins who has accepted a principal position in another school system.

• Marci Sledge, principal of Pinckneyville Middle School, will transfer and become the new principal of Discovery High School. This position is available due to the retirement of Discovery High School Principal Dr. Gene Taylor.
