Bicentennial website named nation’s best

The website devoted to Gwinnett County’s yearlong Bicentennial Celebration won Best of Show out of 249 entries in a National Association of County Information Officers awards competition. Four other awards for Gwinnett County communications materials were also presented in Nashville on July 15.

The National Association of County Information Officers awarded Gwinnett County with several honors at the organization’s annual Awards of Excellence reception in Nashville on July 15.

“We are very proud of the work by our communications team,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Charlotte Nash. “These awards reflect their effort to share interesting and important County information with the public through various media like the website. They consistently exceed expectations in delivering outstanding communications both internally and externally.” The bicentennial website,, serves as a clearinghouse for themed events throughout 2018 and as a repository for Story Vault video interviews with Gwinnett residents. The site also features interactive sections on historic sites and the Bicentennial Torch Run.

A video entitled “Gwinnett County Overview” took top honors in its category and the 2018 Multicultural Festival graphics won Best in Class for special graphics. A photo of the Bicentennial Torch Run won a Meritorious Award in the photography category.

Gwinnett’s budget division joined with communications staff at Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting to be recognized for the Budget in a Brief publication that received a Meritorious Award.
