THINKERS
•What most mothers want for Christmas is the day after.
•Anyone who doesn’t think that Christmas lasts all year doesn’t have a charge card.
•Christmas is when Santa comes down the chimney and your savings go down the drain.

Gwinnett’s beginnings

Very recently Les and I celebrated our 40th Wedding anniversary. For many blessed reasons our marriage has been filled with other people, mainly family. I was surprised to realize that it would be just the two of us at Church on our anniversary day.   Then I realized that for all the joy, distraction and heartache of others, every marriage—better or worse—comes down to just two people.

One of my greatest dreams besides World Peace and a Huge Dog that does not shed is discovering a talent in a family member that I did not suspect.  This was the case for parents Jennifer and Bob Ryan when their low key son Jimmy decided to enter the hotly contested Mr. Brookwood pageant.

Halloween is on October 31. The name Halloween means hallowed or holy evening because it takes place the day before All Saints’ Day. Jack-O’-Lanterns are seen all around during this season and the Irish have a tale about the origin of jack-o’-lanterns — they say that a man named Jack was unable to enter heaven because of his miserliness. He could not enter hell because he had played practical jokes on the devil so he had to walk the earth with his lantern until Judgement Day.

The luckiest people have an occasion or two in their life when they have that Big Moment.  At that amazing time, little can add to the moment except sharing it with your friend.  That is what happened when. Mountain View Homecoming Queen Sarah Williamson watched best friend Tyree Wood crowned as  Homecoming King.  Sarah and Tyree first met and hit it off in their Freshman year at MVHS and the friendship has endured with shared interests in Mentoring, Latin Club and “hanging around.

The secret fact.  No one dares admit in sport success is the necessity of superhuman lawn care. At Grayson High School, former GHS baseball athlete/current Assistant Coach Kegan Bailey showed a willingness to deal head on with this issue by posing for the Varsity Team picture ON the team tractor. He was supported not only by the Varsity team but also by Head Coach Bill Batchelor and Assistant Audra Thomas.
