My regular visits to Our Gwinnett County School clients leaves me amazed at the level of cleanliness in our schools. Grayson High School, my “home school” is a stellar example. However during our recent time there, the unthinkable happened: no air condition in July. While the county staff scrambled to repair, I thought about ancient times when there was poor air conditioning and cell phones were really large.
Hey Everyone ! I left you last month with a poem that my grand-daddy wrote in 1930. I covered some of what Snellville was like during the 1930’s and now I will pick up in the 40’s and move forward.
Black Friday. What comes to mind: Bargains? Crowds? Mayhem? All of the above? My guess is Black Friday doesn’t conjure up thoughts like “soft” and “cuddly” but, Gwinnett County is changing that.
I have been excited and nervous about this month’s article. Excited: because I was/am very anxious to learn more about ‘Our Town’, Snellville. Nervous: because I don’t want (or didn’t want) to get the dates wrong! I could only imagine the phone calls or FB messages I would get, correcting me. LOL So I decided I would get the decade(s) right and maybe even a year or two.

I have been feeling very nostalgic for the past few weeks. It started when I heard the disheartening news of our beloved friend Jamie Britt. When I learned that Hospice would be at his home…. and then he lost his battle with that awful disease, cancer. It just put things into perspective. During this time I was very thankful for the social forum Facebook, SO many of us kept in contact with each other getting updates on Jamie (Britt).

For Josh Mohr, building a business from the ground up came quite naturally. Georgia’s fast-growing lawns offered him a great place to start as a 14-year-old who wanted some extra cash. “I started pushing lawnmowers around the neighborhood and kept going from there,” says Josh.
