Christmas Eve Services: A Family Tradition

Christmas has become the largest and most commercialized Holiday of the year. It basically begins the day after Thanksgiving on Black Friday, and we hear Christmas music played on the radio 24 hours a day until December 26.

How do we deal with our past?

Unless you were born yesterday, you have a past. We’ve all made mistakes. The Bible is clear than no one is perfect. Romans 3:10-12 says, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”

What are your life goals?

I’m speaking this weekend to around 300 college students at a Campus Outreach Fall Retreat in Ocoee, Tennessee. I love college students because they are so full of energy and extremely idealistic.

Finding Real Meaning and Purpose in Life

The Old Testament Book of Ecclesiastes is a difficult one to understand. Most scholars believe that King Solomon is the author. King Solomon writes the Song of Songs as a young adult, which is a great read for married couples. He writes the bulk of Proverbs as a middle-aged adult, and it is so full of wisdom from God.

Glory Days

Have you heard people talk about the good ole days or the glory days? When someone talks about the glory days, he is typically reminiscing a fond memory of the past.

More Than You Can Imagine

I am an extremely positive and optimistic person. No matter what the situation, I always think it will work out with a best-case scenario. I definitely see the glass half-full.

Follow the Cloud

In Exodus 13 the Israelites are between a rock and a hard place. Actually, they are stuck between the shores of the Red Sea and the Egyptian Army. God used Moses to lead the Israelites out of captivity in Egypt where they were slaves for hundreds of years.

What is real love?

What is real love? There are so many different kinds of love, and there are so many different levels of love. Many of us love food. This is evident in my 200-pound frame. I talk about food so much during my sermons that church members bring me food on Sunday.

How Do You View God?

How do you view God? There are so many misconceptions about God. God is not a “genie in a bottle”. Our wish is not his command. God is not a “Santa Claus God” who simply exists to bring us good gifts. God is not a “911 God” who we only call when we have an emergency and need him to extinguish a major problem in our lives. God is not an “old man in the sky” who sounds like Morgan Freeman. God is not a “cosmic cop” who flies around the world looking to punish those who break his rules.
