“And Now, Summer!”

June heralds the beginning of Summer! We are conditioned to think of the Summer as an opportunity to “kick back,” slow down, vacation. We long to get away from the hectic pace of life.

Prayer, Our Necessity for Living

Luke 18:1-8: Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘ Give me legal protection from my opponent.’

The Necessity of Prayer for the Child of God

If there is any time in our lives that prayer proves to be a necessary part of our daily life, it is today! Prayer is one of the four main vehicles that help us exercise our faith in Christ Jesus.

Revealing the Wizard in 2019

You remember the classic 1939 movie “The Wizard of Oz” of course. Dorothy was whisked away to a dream world in the sky to do battle with the Wicked Witch of the West. Her battle was to return to her world, but first, she must find the Great Oz. She thought he was the only one that could get her home to the real world. And indeed, most of the movie Doro-thy was not even aware she was not in a real world until she woke up!

In Pursuit of Peace

Every Christmas Season that comes around, we should be reminded of the glorious scene in the dead of night before a group of shepherds watching their flock. Luke 2:13-14 states: “And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.’” (NASB)

“Giving Thanks; a Spiritual Exercise”

The Season of Thanksgiving is upon us. We will be encouraged just to “be thankful” and just “give thanks,” but to whom and for what? Being thankful necessitates several things; the first is that there is a need, the second is that the need is supplied and lastly, giving thanks to the one responsible for responding to the need, supplying relief.

October Fest

October is one of my most favorite times of the year, the changing from Summer to Fall. All the changes that take place are just beautiful to me. The temperature moderates. There is a bite in the air in the morning.

“Hey. Are You Standing on a Rug?”

The changing world through the events of the day is before us like never before. Technology has made it possible to watch the world change literally as it is happening anywhere in the world.

“To Serve Somebody”

“The Sermon on the Mount” covered in the Gospel of Matthew, chapters 5-7, is one of the most comprehensive materials we have of Jesus’ teaching. I would encourage you to spend some real time reading and meditating on these three chapters.
