15 GCPS seniors earn scholarships as Gates Millennium Scholars

A group of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) seniors recently learned that their hard work in high school will benefit them in college as they will have their their entire college career paid in full. The 15 students have been named 2014 Gates Millennium Scholars—the most Gwinnett students to ever earn this recognition.

Young people from across Walton EMC's 10-county service area whose families are served by the cooperative each recently received a $4,000 college scholarship from Walton Electric Trust. Memorial Day Data Bites: Atlanta poll highlights non-traditional trends in memorials

Atlanta, Ga. – On Memorial Day, it’s customary to bring flowers and an American flag to the cemetery – but what about grabbing the smartphone to post a picture on Facebook? Posting to social media in a non-traditional memorial setting is seen as acceptable by about one in three Atlanta residents under 35 years old, and older generations are not far behind, according to the Dignity Memorial® Network National Opinion Index (NOI) which tracks local and national sentiments on the topic.
