Gwinnett Trails master plan foresees network of pathways

Lawrenceville – A draft Gwinnett Countywide Trails Master Plan unveiled on Feb. 21 envisions a network of County trails tying in with trails by cities and community improvement districts to create a seamless, interconnected web of a bike and pedestrian pathways for recreation, commuting or running errands.

Gwinnett Charter School students perform for state lawmakers

State lawmakers and visitors to the state capitol were entertained by some special guests this week. Students from the North Metro Academy of Performing Arts visited the golden dome and performed the state song, Georgia on My Mind as well as several songs from their upcoming Spring Musical, OZ. The scholars, who were introduced by state Rep. Brooks Coleman, were invited to the capitol by state Rep. Pedro Marin to showcase the talent of the North Metro Academy Performing Arts Players.

Commissioners approve contract for new playgrounds at two county parks

Lawrenceville – Two Gwinnett County parks will soon get new playground equipment and improved handicap-accessibility under a new SPLOST-funded $750,192 contract approved by commissioners on Tuesday. Landscape Structures Inc. was the low responsive bidder to remove and replace playground equipment and surfaces at George Pierce Park in Suwanee and Mountain Park Park in Lilburn.

Atlanta, GA – Hundreds of Georgia law enforcement officers and community leaders will arrive in Atlanta for the 14th annual Golden Shield Honors, set for Tuesday, April 10 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. MADD Georgia and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) will award law enforcement officers, agencies and prosecutors for their efforts in DUI education, detection, arrests, prosecution and prevention of underage drinking.
