Nadine McTaggart sits curled in a cushy oversized chair, one that diminishes her size and gives her the illusion of being even tinier than she is. Her long brunette hair and big dark eyes might give one the notion that she’s a bit sad, but the circle of women who have surrounded her for the past months knows something very different about Nadine.

Commissioners adopt 2018 budget

Lawrenceville – The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners adopted a $1.67 billion budget for 2018 at their regular meeting on Tuesday. The final budget is up about seven percent over last year, primarily due to transfers for capital improvements and increased costs for salaries and benefits. The operating budget is set at $1.28 billion with another $390 million for capital improvements, including projects funded by SPLOST.

Gwinnett Technical College Earns National Recognition for Veterans Services

GWINNETT – Gwinnett Technical College has once again been recognized as one of the best in the nation. The College has earned significant national recognition for their outstanding Veterans Services in Military Times® and Military Friendly®.

Grayson High School receives large grant for community farm

The Food Well Alliance has awarded Grayson High School a $25,000 grant to support the Grayson High School Community Farm and Garden project. The farm and garden helps students learn and hone the skills needed to run an urban garden that provides nutritionally dense food for families that don’t have access to local and sustainably grown healthy foods.

The Alexander Oak

The giant oak that looked out on Scenic Highway from its place in the 91 acres Alexander Park is gone now, and that big oak tree was probably just an acorn when Gwinnett became a Georgia county in 1818. Through the years after the oak became a big tree and a landmark on the Alexander property it has seen all kinds of weather and over a century of changes in the Alexander family and Gwinnett County.

The GFWC Lilburn Woman’s Club is excited to announce the presentation of a check in the amount of $6,300.00 to the Lilburn Cooperative Ministry. On Saturday, December 2nd, the Lilburn Woman’s Club hosted the Lilburn Christmas Walking Tour of Homes with all proceeds being donated to the Lilburn Co-op.
